1. Why did I decide to read this book?
I decided to read this book because I wanted to continue reading the Twilight series, and this is the second book. Also, I had to know what goes on because you could tell that the end of the first book was really only the beginning. I can't really tell other reasons why I wanted to read this or else I might spoil some surprises. I don't think anybody would want that to happen!
2. Plot summary (avoiding major spoilers when possible).
In the beginning everything is going great between Edward and Bella until she has another accident. At her birthday party at the Cullen's she accidentally cuts herself and bleeds. It made Jasper go a little crazy, and he almost attacked her. Yipes. Edward tells her he doesn't love her anymore, and he leaves her saying, "It will be as if I never existed." She becomes overly depressed, but suddenly within a few months her friend Jacob Black hangs out with her over and over. Later, she finds out that he is a werewolf! One problem though... Victoria! She's still after poor Bella, but, fear not, the werewolves are out there protecting her. Just when her and Jacob are about to get together, she is interrupted by an unexpected guest- ALICE CULLEN (Edward's sister)!! Earlier Bella decided to do an extreme thing (jump off a cliff into the ocean.) Edward finds out and thinks that she committed suicide so he goes and tries to disturb the Volturi in Italy. Vampires who disturb these head vampires normally end up perishing!
3. What is the setting, and why is it important to the novel?
The setting is in Forks and La Push. They are important because they are perfect places for vampires and now werewolves to live. The werewolves live in La Push because it's practically in the woods, and since they are very tall, they need someway to hide themselves. Forks has a perfect house for the vampires to live in, and they live near a forest so they can gain access to hunt animals easily instead of humans. Also, there is a border line between Forks and La Push, and it is important because it keeps the vampires and werewolves out of trouble with one another.
4. Who are the main characters, and what roles do they play in the novel?
The main characters are the Cullen Family, Jacob Black and his father, Charlie (Bella's dad), Jessica (Bella's "friend"), Angela and her boyfriend Ben (Bella's good friends), Bella Swan (main character), Renae and Phil (Bella's mom and step dad), and Mike Newton (Bella's other friend.) Her friends roles are just to hang out and be teenagers with, but Bella spends extra, if not, most of her time with Jacob Black. The Cullen Family are practically Bella's family, and they also are the family of her wonderful boyfriend Edward. Her parents and step dad play the roles of any family members (to guide their child in the right direction and be there for her). Bella's role is the main character who is trying to cope with the fact that her and her ex boyfriend(??) are really over, but along the way she finds her friend Jacob who helps her get through it.
5. What is/are the main conflict(s) in the novel?
The main conflicts are between Bella and her ex boyfriend Edward because she has a rough time getting over him and even goes into a slight depression. Her other conflict is her safety which she constantly puts at risk with the Cullen's, but they aren't violent- just dangerous. She also has a conflict with Victoria, a vampire who hasn't gotten over her mate being destroyed to protect Bella. This vampire keeps trying to kill Bella. There is also the occasional conflicts with Bella and her dad because, just like any family, they have their arguments every now and then. In most cases, they don't always "see eye to eye!"

6. Describe the climax of the novel.
The climax of this story would be right when Bella is with Jacob having a lovely time, and an unexpected visitor comes along, Alice Cullen. She tells Bella how he thought that she killed herself so now he's off to provoke the Volturi in Italy. The Volturi are like the main vampires, and they destroy those who try to mess with them. None of them can even get in touch with Edward. So now they have to sneak off to Italy to save him before it's too late. Only when they get there, they only have an extremely short amount of time to go and get him.
7. What is the significance of the book's title? Is the title appropriate, or would I change it to something else?
I believe that the significance of the book title is to show the new relationships in the book. Like Jacob and Bella, them hanging out a lot is new and he's a werewolf. Most people believe that werewolves come out when it's a full moon (New Moon). There was change in the story so why not let the title show it? I believe that the title is perfect the way it is, and I would not change it to anything else. Trust me, the reader has to fully read the book to understand that the title just works!
8. What is my opinion about this book? Why (give specifics)?
I thought this book was just absolutely wonderful because there was so much drama, and nobody could tell what would happen next. No one would have predicted Edward leaving near the beginning of the book. In the first book Bella just fake flirts with Jacob Black, but this time she seems as if she's almost falling for him, or at least she's obsessed with spending time with him. In the book, after he leads her out of depression, they spend time at his house just about everyday. Just when you think that the Cullens are really gone, Alice Cullen comes back! It's so unpredictable because of all of these events!
