9/20-07-
Which fast food frenzy should open in Keyser?
Which one should we get rid of?

Okay, we already have just about every pizza place in Keyser so I don't think we need anymore. We should have a taco bell!! YO QUIERO TACO BELL!!!!! Okay, I'm not that obsessed with it though. Hmm. Which one should we get rid of you ask? Good and simple question- Vocelli's because they don't even know where Keyser High School is. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. *Now I've got that country song stuck in my head. Oh well, at least it's good one*

9/21/07-
Continuing with the food theme: Have you ever eaten an octopus? Would you?

What is this Green Eggs and Ham? Well then, let me put it in that perspective. On second thought, I don't feel like quoting Dr. Seuss today. Anyways, I never had octopus because the only seafood I eat is shrimp. I would never eat octopus because I can't even finish my answer in fear I might get sick.

9/24/07- Are you (or were you) nervous to get your driver's license?

I'm the type of girl that "freaks out" when put under pressure. Of course I'm nervous! I don't even have my permit yet, but I have an A+ in Driver's Ed. Maybe I won't do so bad! I hope I'll do fine.

9/25/07 Is punishing the whole class for the transgression of a few fair? Is it effective?

Before I say my opinion, remember that I'm saying what I think politely, but only because you asked us to answer. Punishing the whole class was not fair at all even if life isn't meant to be fair. The people who were talking excitedly amongst themselves should have been given a warning, and if they were to keep talking in that anxious manner then you could punish those particular people. The rest of the class couldn't help the fact that we were in the same room as the others, and we can't control their actions either. Please keep that in mind.

9/26/07- Video games: Which one has fretted the most of your life away? (Not your favorite, necessarily- just the one you've played the most.)

Okay, I love all my amazing video games, but I've spent most of my time playing four awesome video games equally. Here's my top four:
4. Kingdom Hearts
3. Thrillville
2. Super Mario/ Duck shooting game (1989 version)(Oh yeah!)
1. Dance Dance Revolution Super Nova
Yes, these are all perfect video games to waste my time doing, but right now I don't really have much time to play them. In fact, I haven't played any of them since about the first week of school! I feel as if I'm being grounded from them. =(

9/27/07- Video games: which one is the most fun to watch others play?

Okay, a lot of video games are fun to watch, but there is one that's even funny to watch too- Dance Dance Revolution Super Nova!!!!! Honestly, it is! When we had a "science class" at 4H Camp, we played this game instead of learning, and let me tell you it was very entertaining. What's more fun than watching other people trip over their feet? It was very funny for people to see Ryan and I playing this game together because he had to help teach me, and I still messed up a lot! I am the champion as far as losing. I lost every game I played... wait... I take that back... I think I won one game.

9/28- Video Games: Do violent video games negatively influence those who play them? Will playing violent video games make someone a violent person???

I believe that it depends on the level of maturity the person contains. If they are mature enough, I feel as if the person can play it without having a negative influence from the game. However, if they are immature, I would suggest that they don't even plan on playing the game because it could most likely/ most definitely have a negative impact on them.

9/10- Put those Japanese iris bulbs next to the daffodils, Pam, if you want an attractive display next spring.

9/11- Terry doesn't run very well, but he always enters Run For Your Life, a five-mile race held on Labor Day.

9/12- Neither of my parents is able to take me to the Village theater to see Oscar Wilde's play The Importance of Being Earnest.

9/13- Adriana, please set those books of Shakespeare's plays on this stand; we'll be using them later in class.

9/14- Shawn said that neither of the singers was professionally trained, but their rendition of "Maria" was stunning.

9/17-Neither my friend nor my sister has the time to address these envelopes; maybe some else can help.

9/18- Rob told us, "The picture has not been hung properly, and it will have to be taken down and done correctly.

9/19- Keiko and I have to order these items: two dozen pizzas, three cases of juice, and, I suppose, enough placemats for everyone attending the festival.

Journal Topics

9/10- Comment on the salty hamburger story.

I don't know what you are talking about. What is this "salty hamburger story" you speak of? Well, since I don't know, my final jurisdiction is no comment. Okay, I just heard the story. Yup, it's dumb.

9/11- Do you think 9/11 happened as reported, or was/is there a sinister conspiracy/cover- up?

I wouldn't know. All I know is that this cruel world is full of backstabbers so you can hardly trust anyone. Too many people turn on their friends, but would the government turn on us? It's a harsh world.

9/12- Would you consider Britney Spears fat?

I don't know if she's fat, but why are we so worried about her weight. There are obese people in the world, but size shouldn't even matter. Why judge her? See, instead of worrying about how "glamorous" the celebrities lives are,we need to worry about things that are important. There are people dying on the battlefield fighting for our country and all we can do is document celebrities lives? That's pathetic. Move on! Enough is enough!

9/13- Do you prefer this year's "enrichment" block to last year's study hall/tutoring? Explain.

Last year, I had Mrs. Woy first semester so, of course, it was really fun. Then I had Mrs. Glass who helped us get our homework done quicker because she started class earlier. Mr. Liston is really nice too, and he doesn't really make it boring, but the others don't either. So, if anything, it's equal.

9/14- "Cheaters never prosper."<------------ True statement?

Last year, Fort Hill cheated during the game. Okay, I'll be honest, I didn't really watch much of the game. I'm sorry? If they did cheat, which I'm pretty sure they did, then it should "come back to haunt them." It didn't they won... again! I guess some cheaters do prosper! Maybe we should hire new referees. Yeah. Did you notice the dumb signs too? They can't even spell tornado!!!! Not to mention their sign was upside down. Emmmmbarrassing. We might not have won that game, but at least we have common sense. However, their band has very kind people, and they really liked our show! I wish them good luck, but only them!

9/17- It is better for you location (house, classroom, etc.) to be too cold or too hot.

Wow! What a question I find very amusing! So difficult to answer. Hmmm. Decisions. Decisions. I'd pick too cold because I can sometimes adjust to it quickly. If hot hands, coats, blankets, under armor, etc. are available, I will survive! Also, if there is one thing that I've learned with marching band it's, you can layer up more than you can dress down. When it's too hot, you can dehydrate quicker too. Also, I play my trumpet better when it's cold. If it's cold enough, at night, I can hold my mouthpiece up to the light, blow through it, then watch "flames" come out the end. IT'S SO COOL! (literally!)

9/18- Invent a new candy bar. Describe it's composition and name it.

Okay. I'm sorry, and I even didn't want to be the one to tell you this. I can't tell you. It's a secret like Willy Wonka's was. Well, sort of. See if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, but I can tell you this..... it has chocolate. Now for the truth. I'm not making any candy because I don't want to. I don't feel like inventing something like that! I'm sorry, but I'm not the candwoman.

9/19- Continuing with the food theme: Which McDonald's item should be permanently removed from the menu?

Okay, let's face it, McDonald's is known for greasy, extremely unhealthy food that everyone is appealed to. It is also known for outrageous arrests for salty hamburgers. So what should be taken off the menu? Fish Sandwiches because they stink, are unappetizing, and they look disgusting. Honestly, they look like some random person took Spongebob deep fried him, threw him on bread, and put the sauce on him. I find that disturbing so take it off the menu.

Journal Topics

9/04- In honor (sort of) of the holiday: What's the worst type of labor?

I wouldn't really be a reliable source for this question. You see, the only work I do would be considered chores, and they aren't that complex. However, even though this is most likely off the subject, I will be working at a day care center next summer. Therefore, I will have a better idea as far as what real work is.

9/05- Should Michael Vice ever be allowed to return to the NFL?

I may not watch much football, but I do know that what Vick did was wrong regardless of how famous he is due to this sport. The way he treated the poor dogs was unacceptable. Not only should he ever play football again, he should be sentenced to many, many years in prison for sick cruelty. He somehow needs to see what he did to those animals. He can say sorry all he wants, but he can't mend the damage he has caused. What's done is done, and those poor animals did not deserve that punishment for not being an animal version of Hulk!

9/06- Which city/ landmark in the "main land" U.S. would you most like to visit? Explain.

Each summer, I go to Ocean City, Maryland. That is where I'm happy, and I really don't mind if I can't go anywhere else. It's so much fun making a new memory each year, but I still love West Virginia best!

9/07- Two weeks in (respectfully): grade the new principals.
(Twigg; Saturday)

Well, it's been two weeks with our new principals, Ms. Twigg and Mr. Saturday. As Far as I've noticed, they really like to talk to the students, and they are nice too. That's why they each shall receive an A.

Extended Journal 8/31

What was your most memorable summer adventure?

I didn't really have any specific adventure, but I did have some fun making memories that will last a lifetime. About three days before band camp, yeah sunburn, the trumpet section had practice that was arranged by our wonderful section leader Katie. We were in the basement of the church that Ashley's dad preaches at. Out of nowhere, we started hearing footsteps getting closer, and once the person entered the room we screamed, except for Tyler. The woman apologized for startling us and said she needed to get something, but when she went to turn around to leave she smacked her face right into the coat rack then left. Well, we started to continue our practice. Later, we heard footsteps again. So, we searched the church over and over again upstairs and downstairs while Tyler sang Phantom of the Opera. Nothing showed up so we went back downstairs to try again to continue our practice. Once again, about five minutes later we heard footsteps.
Right when we looked out the door, Mark Elliot screamed from behind us, " What are we all looking at?" When we heard that, we screamed as loud as we could as he watched us laughing hysterically. I'll never forget how much fun that practice was.

Book Synopsis

Page count: 759 pages

Type: Fiction

Started on: I'm not quite sure.
Finished on: September 18th

My grade:A+++

1. Why did I decide to read this book?

Well, there are a lot of books out there both boring and exciting. In my opinion, Harry Potter is one of the most thrilling, entertaining, suspenseful, book I've ever read, aside from the Bible. You see, around the day before the book came out, my second cousin Isaac Liam Moore was born, and so I really didn't get to read it because I was way to excited. Instead of reading it, I was to busy holding this precious baby trying not to cry. Also, I was volunteering at a local day care center, and I don't regret it at all. Anyways, like I said before, I love Harry Potter because I can relate to the stories and the characters. That is why I read it.

2. Plot summary (avoiding major spoilers when possible):

In the beginning, the Dursleys are getting ready to go into hiding so Voldermort doesn't hold them captive. This is mostly because Harry is a really awesome guy who doesn't want others dying or being put in danger for him and/or because of him. After the stubborn Dursleys decide to actually do something intelligent, like listen to him, Harry goes with members of the Order of the Phoenix to take him to his first safe location. However, the first movement didn't go as planned, and some things go dreadfully wrong, but he is still able to show up for Bill and Fleur's wedding.

Later, Harry, Hermione, and Ron leave to search for more Horcruxes, but Harry has a few connections with Voldermort's mind along the way. That doesn't stop him though. He is determined to stop Voldermort or as Ron refers to him as "Taboo". Problems arise in the wizarding world once the trio disappears. Scrimageour is murdered, and now the ministry is run by Death Eaters, and Hogwarts is too. Not to mention, " mudbloods" are being taken away, and innocent muggles are being murdered. You don't even want to know who they left as Headmaster! Anyways back to the three main characters. Not only are they searching for the Horcruxes but they are searching for answers about Dumbledore. Little Miss "can't keep her mouth shut and stop lying" Rita Skeeter decides to write a mostly inaccurate book called, The Life and Lies of Dumbledore.

Also, when Dumbledore died, he left an item for Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and Hermione's gift, a book, shows them that there is more out there than just the Horcruxes. Apparently, in the children's novel, there is a story about Hallows. If you gain possession of all three, you will become master of death. With that being said, Voldermort decides to go after the Elder Wand, the most powerful wand, to kill Harry. In the end, there is a stunning twist that many will not believe. It reveals the truth about Snape and states who survives. As you can tell, you can't state much about this book without spoiling it, but I can tell you this, after the last battle, there are a lot of new graves.

3. What is the setting, and why is it important to the novel?

The settings are in various places of the "muggle world" and the "wizarding world". The settings are important because horrible things are happening to the both worlds due to Voldermort's rein of terror. The settings are important because some areas where Harry went had to do with his past. For example, he went to Godrics Hollow, where he was born. When he was there, he finally discovered his parents graves! Harry even finds the answers to many questions in different places that he's goes to. If you carefully notice, you'll find that a lot of the places that he escapes to are places he's been before like The Shrieking Shack, the camping grounds where he stayed for the Qudditch World Cup, and even the house that was deeded to him that had once belong to Sirius.

4. Who are the main characters, and what roles do they play in the novel?

The main characters are, Harry, Hermione, Ron, the rest of the Weasley Family, The Order of the Phoenix, Voldermort, and the Death Eaters. The roles of the good characters (Harry, Hermione, Ron, the rest of the Weasley Family, and the Order of the Phoenix) try to take back their once peaceful world back from the filthy, pale hands of Voldermort backed up by his idiotic Death Eaters. The role of the evil characters(Voldermort and the Death Eaters) is to defeat Harry so he can truly rule once and for all. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are out to find and destroy the rest of the Horcruxes, perhaps find the Hallows, and defeat Voldermort. Harry's purpose is to defeat Voldermort, not so he can survive but so the others can live in peace. The Weasley Family are there for Harry helping protect him, and staying involved in The Order of the Phoenix. The rest of The Order of the Phoenix members also protect Harry and try to fight Voldermort. Voldermort, the main villain, plays Harry's number one enemy, and his roll is to destroy Harry because of the prophecy, and when he killed Harry's parents, some of his powers transferred to Harry. The Death Eaters are like the opposite of The Order of the Phoenix. Their purpose is to back of Voldermort because, being the coward he truly is, he needs a "secret service" like group to protect him. Now I know you're thinking, "Well Harry has protection too! Doesn't that make him a coward too?" No, even though people do back him up, Harry doesn't want anyone to suffer or die for him.

5. What is/are the main conflict(s) in the novel?

The main battle would have to be between Harry and Voldermort because the Prophecy says neither can live while the other survives. In other words, one has to die, but who? Harry stands his ground saying that it has to be between him and Voldermort alone. He is even willing to die for the safety of his fellow witches and wizards, even the muggles. However, there are too many people getting involved. You see, not only has it been Harry and Voldermort, but it has been The Order of the Phoenix, heroic people trying to help, and Death Eaters as well. That is most likely why the real battle hasn't occurred until this book. There have been too many interferences for too long. I mean I can't say all of his life unless he could have
killed Voldermort when he was a baby. Though, in my opinion, that would be pretty cool.

6. Describe the climax of the novel.

When Harry and Voldermort are fighting, Harry doesn't shoot curses or jinxes, but instead, he lectures Voldermort with phrases such as," I know things you don't know, Tom Riddle. I know lots of important things that you don't. Want to hear some, before you make another big mistake?" Also, he says, " It's your one last chance, it's all you've got left.... I've seen what you'll be otherwise.... Be a man...try... Try for some remorse...." It is when the truth is revealed of who survives.

7. What is the significance of the book's title? Is the title appropriate, or would I change it to something else?

The books title is appropriate, and the Deathly Hallows is mentioned a lot throughout the story. Once you think about it, I mean Deathly Hallows, this story is about death, lots of it. I wouldn't change it because I like it the way it is. J. K. Rowlings knows what she's righting about. Trust me on this one, you have to read the book to understand it. Here's a hint. The answer is near the very end, and you will probably most likely be surprised. When I first heard the title, I thought," Okay, something is definitely telling me that this book is going to be much better than the rest, or at least extremely adventurous," and it was.

8. What is my opinion about the book? Why? give specifics)?

I love this book because it is entertaining, suspenseful, "lovey-dovey" in some parts, surprising, and funny in others. Oh, and I love the fact that my first name is in the book (Kendra Dumbledore)!!! I don't think that there are many books that really keep my attention, but this one most definitely did. Whenever I was told supper was ready or to go to bed, I would always keep reading saying things like,"Let me finish this last page," but really I would read about two chapters. While reading this book, I was either laughing, crying, or thinking "What on Earth?" I would recommend anyone to read this book!

Here are some example phrases throughout the book:

-" A plot to get this house? Are you actually as stupid as you look?"

-" Wha-----? Tonks----- Tonks has had the baby?"

- " There was a clatter as the basilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermione's arms. Running at Ron, she flung them around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth."

- "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU, YOU *CENSORED*"

Will the real lunch line set up succeed? Discuss. Aug. 28

The lunch line can be "crowded" no matter what you do to fix it. Let's face it,we will always have the impatient student who will cut the line. Also, most students don't even care about the rules. So why would they listen now? That is why I believe that this plan is most likely not to succeed.

Beans are disgusting, and so are most hot dogs. So why would I eat either? However, if i was forced to pick, I'd probably pick the franks, but only if I was forced to!

I didn't really have any specific adventure, but I did have some fun making memories that will last a lifetime. About three days before band camp, yeah sunburn, the trumpet section had practice. Let's just say they were pretty eventful.
